A domain date is not a launch date
RDAP — the protocol that replaced WHOIS — returns the date a domain was first registered by anyone. It is an excellent record of exactly that and a poor record of anything else, because domains change hands constantly and the registration date does not reset when they do.
In this catalogue the effect is dramatic. One brand sits on a domain registered in 1996 and another on one from 2003, both carrying casinos licensed within the last two years. Read naively, the dates say these are the two oldest casinos in the list. They are not.
Where the domain date is useful
- As a floor. A site cannot have operated at an address before the address existed, so a domain registered three months ago caps how old the site can be.
- As a flag. A very large gap between the domain and the licence is worth a second look — not because it is bad, but because it means the address has a history that belongs to somebody else.
- As a cross-check. Where the domain, the first certificate and the licence all fall close together, the three agree and the launch date is about as established as public records can make it.

Gap is the distance in years between the domain registration and the licence issue. Several of these are large enough that the domain date should not be quoted at all.
Why second-hand domains are so common here
Partly search visibility, partly availability: short memorable names in this subject were registered long ago. An operator launching a brand buys what exists rather than what would be tidy, and the previous owner's registration date comes with it.
None of which is concealment. It becomes misleading only when a site quotes that date — its own or a competitor's — as evidence of longevity, which is exactly why this site prints it in a column beside two others instead of alone.
The other guides
Alongside this page in the same section: wagering, worked through, what triggers a document request, the three stages of a payout and reading terms in two minutes. Each one takes the same twenty-three casinos and the same three dates, and asks a different question of them.
Further out: new crypto casinos, the launch register and every casino in the catalogue. The catalogue behind all of them is the same, which is why the numbers on one page never contradict the numbers on another.
The section this page belongs to is the guides, and the whole catalogue with every date attached is on the launch register. The front page carries the short list of new crypto casinos by licence date.
